Within the Faculty of Education, The Centre for Career and Personal Development (CCPD) offers an important range of programmes to professionals working in the career education and guidance sector, including a Foundation degree in Working with Young People and Young People’s Services, a Foundation degree in Advice and Guidance and a Qualification in Careers Guidance (QCG). The Centre also offers a Certificate and Advanced Certificate in Supervision Studies, and a programme of study for Careers Education in schools and colleges. All the programmes offered by the Centre are of an applied nature, reflecting the Centre’s commitment to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills for their role in the expanding guidance sector.
CCPD is an organizational member of the International Association of Educational and Vocational Guidance. The Centre has a research base which has been characterized by joint projects with other public, private and voluntary agencies, and includes Connexions and other guidance organizations, careers education for ethnic minorities and evaluation of adult advice and guidance services. We have also taken part in two European projects funded by the EU. We offer a range of short courses and consultancy work to guidance employers.
